Urogynecology
What is an urogynecological examination?
Urogynecological examination provides insight into the condition of the pelvic organ support system in women and a clinical assessment of the anatomy and function of the urethrovesical segment. This is how the type of prolapse of the urogenital organs (cysto/rectocele, uterovaginal prolapse) is diagnosed and the clinical grade is determined according to the POP-Q classification (0-4).
Which disorders of the urogenital system can be diagnosed by an urogynecological examination?
Additional standard tests (Stress, Bonney, Q-type) during an urogynecological examination can diagnose and determine the type of urinary incontinence (stress, urgency, mixed) and its clinical type (I-III).
An urogynecological examination also diagnoses various other disorders of the urogenital system in women, such as overactive bladder, urethral syndrome, painful bladder syndrome, bacterial cystitis and other urogenital infection, interstitial cystitis, lower urinary tract syndrome, etc. If necessary, an urogynecological examination can be supplemented with a vaginal ultrasound assessment of the mobility of the bladder neck and urethra.
