Cervical Polyp Ablation
Cervical polyp, i.e. a polyp of the cervix, is most commonly a benign formation that can be located on the surface of the cervix or inside the cervical canal.
Cervical polyp ablation is a procedure in which a cervical polyp is grasped with specialized polyp forceps and separated from the base with rotating movements. The base is then further peeled off with a cochlea – an instrument used to "scrape" the cervical canal and the polyp bed. Often, when removing a polyposis formation from the cervix, the cervical canal is also abraded with a curette.
Cervical polyp ablation is a safe, quick, and painless procedure performed under local anesthesia.
A polyp inside the uterine cavity (endometrial polyp) is removed hysteroscopically.
