Pharmacological methods imply:

• issuing appropriate analgesic therapy for the treatment of a particular pain syndrome

• insight into previous treatment and medication and modification of previous analgesic therapy

• the possibility of pharmacogenomic testing as a safer approach to treatment especially when individuals are taking multiple different groups of drugs at the same time

• giving intravenous therapy with or without muscle relaxants
