Basivertebral Nerve Ablation

What is basivertebral nerve ablation and what is it used for?

Basivertebral nerve ablation is the latest method of treating degenerative changes in the intervertebral disc with reactive changes in the surrounding spinal bone in patients with chronic dorsalgia.

It is used in the treatment of chronic pain in the spine (chronic low back pain) caused by chronic degenerative changes of the disc.

How is basivertebral nerve ablation performed?

The effect of basivertebral nerve ablation is achieved by thermal ablation of the basivertebral nerve, which transmits pain directly from the vertebral bone and disc.

The approximate duration of the procedure is 60 minutes with anesthesia.
