Nonpharmacological methods
The non-pharmacological method is dry needling, a method based on the use of acupuncture needles. However, unlike true Eastern acupuncture, this Western form involves predominantly dealing with muscle trigger points and is therefore intended primarily for the treatment of myofascial syndromes characterized by reffered pain in places away from the pain syndrome, which is often the case in clinical practice. The result of treating the wrong place - a typical example of this is a tension-type headache caused by overly tense and painful neck muscles. The most common cause of myofascial syndromes are acute or chronically overloaded muscle or muscle groups.
