Biopsy
Biopsy is an important medical procedure that is often performed for accurate diagnosis. More specifically, a biopsy involves taking tissue or a sample of cells from the body for microscopic analysis, and is performed when cancer or other conditions of the prostate/penis are suspected.
In order to ensure an accurate diagnosis and choose the most effective therapy, biopsy is often performed in combination with immunohistochemical processing, providing detailed information about the tissue structure and the biochemical characteristics present.
Diagnostic procedures
As part of our Center for Urology, we offer the following diagnostic procedures for patients facing various urological problems:
- Prostate biopsy (under local or general anaesthesia): The procedure of taking a tissue sample from the prostate for further analysis, most often due to suspicion of the presence of tumor changes in the prostate or other pathologies. It can be performed under local or general anesthesia.
- Penile biopsy (under local or general anesthesia): A procedure of taking a tissue sample from the penis, which is usually used to analyze suspicious lesions or changes in the skin of the penis. It can be performed under local or general anesthesia, whereby general anesthesia is used for larger or more complex procedures.
