Iron infusions

The most commonly used way of treating iron deficiency (anemia) is taking iron orally in tablet or liquid form. Some people need to take iron directly into the body through a vein.

This method is needed in cases where it is not possible to take iron in tablet or liquid form; when it cannot be adequately absorbed through the intestines; when not enough iron can be absorbed due to blood loss or when it is necessary to increase the iron level quickly to avoid medical complications or blood transfusion and in patients with celiac disease (gluten intolerance).
