Parathyroid glands tumors and parathyroid glands cancer
In clinical practice, the excess of parathyroid hormone (PTH) is most often found in patients with hyperplasia of parathyroid cells or benign tumors (adenomas) and rarely malignant tumors (carcinomas) of the parathyroid glands.
Diagnostics and treatment
The basic diagnostic procedure includes a specialist, ultrasound and scintigraphic examination of the parathyroid glands, laboratory and hormonal tests (PTH, vitamin D), and if necessary, imaging with CT, MR and genetic testing.
In treatment, the method of choice is operative treatment.
