Dental procedures under anesthesia
Do you have a strong fear of the dentist?
Our experienced dentists, in collaboration with anesthesiologists, use various types of anesthesia to minimize pain and discomfort during dental procedures. Whether you require local anesthesia or sedation, our team will find the best solution for you.
Monitored intravenous analgo-sedation
This is a special type of anesthesia specifically adapted for dental procedures, in which medication is administered intravenously. The most common procedures where monitored intravenous analgo-sedation is applied include implantology treatments such as ALL-ON-4 and ALL-ON-6.
Monitored intravenous analgo-sedation is a safe and highly effective method that keeps the patient calm and in a state of reduced awareness.
It offers a dual benefit, for both the dentist or implantologist and the patient. It facilitates the doctor’s work because the patient is cooperative, without fear or pain, and allows for multiple procedures to be performed in a single day without discomfort.
This form of sedation is ideal for all dental procedures, especially longer ones, and for patients who have low pain tolerance, insufficient effect from local anesthesia, or an overwhelming fear of dental treatments. In such cases, the patient feels no fear, loses track of time, and is not disturbed by sounds.
To undergo this type of anesthesia, the patient must be in good general health or have any systemic diseases under control. Since it is a conscious analgo-sedation that induces light sleep, patient cooperation is essential.
Monitored intravenous analgo-sedation begins with intravenous medication administration about 10 minutes before the procedure and continues throughout the entire treatment. The patient breathes independently during the process, and the feeling of drowsiness usually fades around 20 minutes after the procedure. The patient remains under medical supervision for approximately one more hour due to possible dizziness and may then go home accompanied. Patients are advised not to drive or operate motor vehicles on the day of the procedure.
The most common indications for monitored intravenous analgo-sedation include implantology procedures (ALL-ON-4 and ALL-ON-6), patients with a strong gag reflex, and those with severe dental anxiety.
