Martina Matovinović, M.D., Ph.D
Martina Matovinović, M.D., Ph.D., Assistant Professor graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Zagreb in 2003. Following the completion of his studies, she became a research assistant at the Ministry of Science and Education, working on the project "Replacement Therapy in Patients with Pituitary Tumors" from 2004 to 2007 at Sisters of Mercy University Hospital Center. She successfully passed the subspecialty examination in endocrinology and diabetology in 2017 and became a consultant endocrinologist and diabetologist.
Enthusiasm for the medical profession is intertwined with a passion for science, which is reflected in the teaching activities carried out at the Catholic Faculty of Theology in Zagreb, the Faculty of Kinesiology in Zagreb, and the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Zagreb.
She has actively participated in numerous professional and scientific conferences, courses, meetings, symposiums, and congresses both in Croatia and abroad. She has been involved in several scientific research projects, both as a collaborator and as a project leader. She is a member of several professional societies and a reviewer for international and domestic journals. With over 30 publications indexed in bibliographic databases, authorship of several book chapters, and active participation in national and international conferences with over 80 published abstracts, her impact is noteworthy. Additionally, she is actively involved in popularizing professional and scientific activities through numerous media appearances.
Her area of scientific and professional interest lies in endocrinology and diabetology, where she contributes to the advancement of the field and science by collaborating not only with other medical disciplines but also in interdisciplinary teams with other scientific institutions. She has a particular focus on obesity and type 2 diabetes from endocrinological, genetic, epigenetic, and microbiotic perspectives.
