Tadija Petrović, M.D., Ph.D.
Dr. Tadija Petrović, born in 1983 in Split, Croatia, is a specialist in orthopedics and traumatology of the musculoskeletal system. He is married and the father of three children. After graduating from the Faculty of Medicine in Zagreb, he completed his internship at the Sveti Duh Hospital in Zagreb. Since 2011, he has been employed at the Clinic for Traumatology, University Hospital "Sestre milosrdnice" in Zagreb. His areas of interest are all large joints (shoulder, elbow, hip, knee and ankle), with special emphasis on the upper extremities. He specialized in the treatment of sports injuries, endoprosthetic joint replacement and the treatment of fractures in such joints. He is lecturer at the University Libertas- Zagreb, where he teaches Orthopedics and Traumatology.
In 2014, as part of a team led by prof. Kolundžić, he was among the first in the world to successfully perform one of the most complex and innovative surgical procedures in the field of orthopedics - the installation of 3D pelvic implants in a patient who had sarcoma of the intestinal bone.
During 2014 and 2015, he spent 8 months at the Clinic for Orthopedics and Traumatology of the University Hospital "Inselspital" in Bern, Switzerland, where, under the guidance of prof. Siebenrock and prof. Zumstein acquired further expertise in the treatment of injuries and arthrosis in the shoulder and elbow area. During this fellowship, he independently performed 150 arthroscopic and open operations on the above-mentioned joints.
Between 2016 and 2020, he continued to specialize attending international courses at the highest level: in the field of knee endoprosthetics (Stolzalpe, Austria - Prof. Hofmann), sports traumatology (Ankara, Turkey), elbow injuries and arthrosis (Basel, Switzerland and Madrid, Spain)
In 2020, he trained at private hospitals "Orthopadie Sonnenhof" and "Engeriedspital" in Bern, Switzerland, where he worked as a surgeon in the team of prof. Zumstein, one of the world’s leading authorities in the field of shoulder, elbow and sports injuries. During his stay, he successfully performed over 400 operations in this area.
He has published several scientific papers in domestic and international scientific journals. In addition, he is a reviewer for some of the most influential orthopedic journals: JSES (Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery), BMC Musculoskeletal Disorders and AOTS (Archives of Orthopedic and Trauma Surgery). He is about to defend his doctoral thesis in the field of autologous cartilage cultivation in a perfusion bioreactor. As a guest lecturer, he has given several lectures at national and international congresses. In addition, he co-won the award for the best scientific work at the most prestigious European congress EFORT 2018, in Barcelona
Since 2010, he has been the team physician at the Cibona-Zagreb basketball club, the official physician of the Wrestling and Boxing National Teams, where he had the opportunity to work with some of our most successful athletes (NBA STARS: Bojan Bogdanović, Dario Šarić, Ivica Zubac WRESTLERS: Žugaj, Etlinger and BOXERS: Babić, Milun, Pijetraj)
He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Croatian Orthopedic Society, a member of the Eastern Europe Board of SECEC (European umbrella organization for shoulder and elbow surgery), a member of ESSKE (European Society for Sports Traumatology, Knee Surgery and Arthroscopy)
He joined the St. Catherine Specialty Hospital in February 2021.
