Prim. Sonja Frančula-Zaninović, M.D., University Master of Healthcare Management
Prim. Sonja Frančula-Zaninović, M.D., University Master of Healthcare Management, specialist in internal medicine subspecialization in cardiology, graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Zagreb in 1988. She completed her internship, specialization in internal medicine and subspecialization in cardiology at the University Hospital Center Zagreb, and 2007 earned the title of specialist in internal medicine, subspecialist in cardiology. For several years, she was a clinical monitor of phase III clinical drug trials of several international clinical studies in the Republic of Croatia.
She completed postgraduate specialist study in Healthcare Management at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Zagreb and in defended her final specialist thesis 2017 and earned the academic title of University Master of Healthcare Management. In 2018 she earned the title of Primarius.
She completed several postgraduate and educational courses: education in upper gastrointestinal endoscopy, course on "Good Clinical Practice", international postgraduate course: "Emergencies in Internal Medicine", postgraduate course of the 1st category: "Functional diseases of the digestive tract", education in echocardiography.
She worked as a cardiologist at the Polyclinic for the Prevention of Cardiovascular Diseases and Cardiac Rehabilitation in Zagreb and at the Health Center Zagreb-Centar, where she founded the cardiology department. She was the head of the internal medicine and cardiology departments at the Health Center Zagreb-Centar. For several years she was an external associate in the Medicines Committee of the Croatian Agency for Medicines and Medical Devices (HALMED).
She is a member of the expert team of the health website "Zdravo budi" since 2020.
Her professional interests are: cardiovascular prevention, cardiovascular pharmacotherapy, heart failure, arrhythmia, echocardiography, cardiovascular diseases of the elderly.
She has held a number of lectures and educational workshops in the field of cardiology for physicians and pharmacists. She is the author and co-author of several scientific and professional papers in the field of cardiology and clinical microbiology. She has participated in several scientific research European projects and several clinical studies. She is an active participant of numerous of international congresses, scientific and professional meetings.
She participates in the work of professional societies, of which she is a long-standing member of The Croatian Medical Association, Croatian Society of Cardiology European Society of Cardiology (ESC).
