Ozren Kubat, M.D., Ph.D.
Born in Zagreb in year 1984, doctor Ozren Kubat received his medical degree from the University of Zagreb School of medicine in year 2008. After internship, he started working as a research fellow in the Clinical Hospital Centre of Zagreb's Department of orthopaedic surgery. He became an attending orthopaedic surgeon at the Pediatric orthopaedic ward in year 2016.
During and after his residency he actively engaged in both research and clinical work abroad. He finished a research fellowship under professor El-Hawary in the IWK Health Centre / Dalhousie University, Halifax, Canada and the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City, NY, USA. After becoming an attending he finished a clinical fellowship in pediatric spine surgery under the mentorship of doctor Ovadia at the Sourasky Medical Center in Tel Aviv, Israel.
Doctor Kubat is a recipient of multiple stipends and fellowships given by the European Pediatric Orthopaedic Society (EPOS), American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS), Pediatric Orthopedic Society of North America (POSNA) and European Federation of Orthopaedics and Traumatology (EFORT), during which he received further education in the areas of pediatric orthopaedics and pediatric spine surgery. This education took place in many centres of excellence throughout the World, such as Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, Gillette's Hospital in Minneapolis, Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, Brostol Children's Infirmary, Great Ormond Street Hospital in London and Speising Hospital in Vienna. He was the coauthor of a scientific project led by Professors El-Hawary (IWK), Skaggs (UCLA) and Schwab HSS based on research of early onset scoliosis. This research was later on published and made into a PhD thesis.
He is also employed at the Zagreb University School of medicine. Dr. Kubat is an active researcher, and actively participates in the work of EPOS as a member of the European Spine Study Group.
His areas of interests: spine surgery - scoliosis, pediatric orthopedics, neuromuscular conditions.
