Sandra Sabolić, M. Sc.
She was born on March 9, 1970, in Zagreb. After completing secondary medical school in Zagreb, specialization in laboratory-sanitary technology, she enrolled at the Faculty of Pharmacy and Biochemistry, University of Zagreb, majoring in Medical Biochemistry (VII/1 level). She graduated in the subject Application of Radionuclides in Diagnostics, with a diploma thesis entitled Therapy of Thyroid Cancer with Radioactive Iodine 131, prepared at University Hospital Centre Rebro under the mentorship of Prof. Damir Dodig, PhD.
She completed her internship at the General Hospital "Sveti Duh" in Zagreb, in the Department of Medical Laboratory Diagnostics. After the internship she passed the state professional exam, and in 2017 she completed postgraduate specialist studies and passed the specialist exam at the Clinical Hospital Centre Sestre milosrdnice.
Since September 2010, she has been employed at the Polyclinic “Synlab Croatia”, a polyclinic for medical laboratory diagnostics, where she serves as Head of the Medical Biochemistry Laboratory. She worked in a laboratory accredited according to HRN EN ISO 15189 and acted as Quality Manager. In her daily work she performs a wide range of biochemical, hematological, immunochemical, and coagulation analyses using modern systems: Olympus AU 480, Abbott Architect ci8200, Pentra 80, Sysmex XN 550, Elecsys 2010 Rack, Cobas e 411, Abbott Architect i1000/i2000, STA Stago, Yumizen G800, Siemens CA 600, Miditron Junior, and Dirui urine analyzers. She also has experience with laboratory information systems Zeus, Samson, and Bionet. She also worked at the Polyclinic Medirad as Head of the Medical Biochemistry Laboratory, where she carried out hematological, biochemical, immunochemical, and urinalysis tests using Medonic M series, Cobas Integra 400 plus, Cobas u 411, and Vitros Eci analyzers. In this role she gained experience in managing laboratory operations, organizing daily analyses, leading professional teams, and maintaining quality standards.
She gained special experience in working with clients and professional literature at the bookstore “Algoritam”, where she worked as an advisor in the fields of medicine, chemistry, and biology.
In addition to formal education, she continuously engages in professional development. She regularly participates in training related to laboratory diagnostics, quality management, and the application of international standards in practice.
Her professional interests include the development and application of methods in biochemical, hematological, and immunochemical diagnostics, the implementation of modern laboratory technologies, and the standardization of procedures in accordance with international norms. She is particularly engaged in the organization and supervision of quality systems in medical-biochemical laboratories, as well as in the education of younger professionals in the field of medical biochemistry.
Through her laboratory practice, she continuously strives to contribute to the improvement of healthcare quality, the optimization of laboratory processes, and the development of new diagnostic approaches. She actively participates in professional discussions and collaborates with colleagues in the field of laboratory medicine with the aim of advancing diagnostic standards and implementing best practices in everyday work.
She is a member of the Croatian Chamber of Medical Biochemists and the Croatian Society for Medical Biochemistry and Laboratory Medicine. She participates in professional conferences and training programs with the goal of continuous professional development in the field of medical biochemistry and laboratory medicine. Her particular interests include quality control, accreditation, and the implementation of international standards in laboratory practice, thereby contributing to the advancement of the profession and the raising of diagnostic quality standards in the Republic of Croatia.
