Prof. Vedran Uglešić, M.D., Ph.D.

He graduated from the School of Medicine, University of Zagreb in 1979. He spent four years in primary health care at the Maksimir Health Center. He specialized in Maxillofacial Surgery in Zagreb (KBC Zagreb) and became certified maxillofacial surgeon at 1990. In 1989, he became an Assistant at the Department of Maxillofacial Surgery at the School of Dental Medicine, University of Zagreb. In 1990, he defended his master's thesis at the School of Medicine, University of Zagreb.

From 1991 to 1992, he spent time in Plastic Surgery Departement at St Lawrence Hospital, Chepstow, UK. Completed a course in Microsurgery at Norwich Hospital, London, and in the same year an advanced course in Facial Plastic Surgery in Cardiff. In 1995, he founded and became the first Head of the Department for Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery of the Department of Maxillofacial Surgery, University Hospital Dubrava. In 1995, he defended his thesis at the School of Medicine, University of Zagreb. He was promoted to the position of Assistant Professor in 1998 and became a Full Professor of Maxillofacial Surgery in 2003. In 2011, he was promoted to Full Professor in a permanent position at the School of Dental Medicine, University of Zagreb. He is also a Full Professor of Maxillofacial Surgery in Mostar and at the School of Dental Medicine in Osijek. He was Head of the Department for Maxillofacial and Oral Surgery in the period 2011-2016 and President of the Croatian Society for Maxillofacial, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery of the Head and Neck in the period 2016-2018.

He was trained in Plastic Surgery, Royal London Hospital, London, UK, 1994; Washington State University Hospital, Seattle, US, ENT department, 1999 and at St. Johanns Spital, Landesklinik fur Mund, Kiefer und Gesichtschirurgie Krankenhouse, Salzburg, 1999 and 2005.

Prof. Vedran Uglešić, M.D., Ph.D. is Croatian member of the AO Foundation, Switzerland. He gave numerous lectures for professional post-graduate and doctoral studies, as well as congresses of Maxillofacial Surgery, Plastic Surgery and ENT in Croatia. From 1998 to 2018, he held 25 invited lectures outside Croatia.

From August 28, 2021, his works had 4131 readers and 547 independent citations.

Prof. Uglešić, M.D., Ph.D. has a special interest in aesthetic and reconstructive surgery of the head and neck, facial bone deformities and tumor surgery of the head and neck.
