Luka Novosel, M.D., Ph.D.
After graduating from the University of Zagreb's Medical School in 2008, he completed his internship at the KB Sveti Duh hospital and passed the state medical exam in 2010. He began his specialization in radiology at the KBC Zagreb in 2010 and completed it in 2014. Since 2016, he has been employed at the Clinical Institute for Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology at the KBC Sestre Milosrdnice, where he started his subspecialization in interventional radiology and became a subspecialist in 2020. He obtained his PhD in Biomedical and Health Sciences and completed a postgraduate study in radiology at the University of Zagreb. He defended his doctoral dissertation in 2021 and earned the title of Doctor of Science. Since 2022, he has been employed at the Department of Clinical Radiology at the Medical Faculty in Zagreb.
In 2022, he received the Annual Award from the Croatian Medical Chamber for his notable professional achievement in the medical field. He is a double recipient of the European Society of Interventional Radiology (CIRSE) scholarship for education in new interventional procedures, leading to training at excellence centers in Madrid, Paris, and Strasbourg in interventional oncology and musculoskeletal interventions.
He is a lecturer in several postgraduate studies at the Medical Faculty in Zagreb and has attended various training sessions abroad. He has actively participated in international and national congresses, delivering over 50 lectures. He is involved in scientific projects and clinical trials and is a member of several professional societies. Currently, he serves as the vice president of the Section for Interventional Radiology of the Croatian Radiological Society (sIRcro). He has authored numerous scientific articles and posters, with 16 papers published in journals indexed in Current Contents.
His areas of interest and expertise in interventional radiology include thermal ablation methods for tumors, musculoskeletal interventions, embolization techniques for treating fibroids, hemorrhoids, and prostate conditions, as well as endovascular therapy for dialysis fistulas, venous thromboembolism, and pulmonary embolism.
