Luka Bulić, M.D., B. Sc. Comp.
Dr. Luka Bulić, M.D., B. Sc. Comp. holds both a Doctor of Medicine degree and a Bachelor of Science in Computing degree from the University of Zagreb, reflecting his interdisciplinary expertise at the intersection of medicine and data science. He is also a physician, medical genetics resident, and researcher specializing in precision medicine and the clinical application of artificial intelligence in genomics and oncology. He is currently affiliated with the Centre for Genetics and Personalized Medicine at St. Catherine Specialty Hospital in Zagreb, where he is undergoing residency training in medical genetics, and is a Ph.D. candidate in biomedicine and health sciences.
His research focuses on the development, validation, and clinical translation of AI models based on complex biomedical data, including genomic, radiomic, and pharmacogenomic datasets. He has been actively involved in multiple high-impact projects, such as OncoOrigin, an integrative AI tool for primary cancer site prediction using tumor DNA sequencing data, and MammoRadiomics, an AI-based platform for predicting response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy in breast cancer using MRI radiomics. His work also extends to population pharmacogenomics, whole-genome sequencing implementation, and personalized therapeutic decision-making.
Dr. Bulić has authored and co-authored a substantial body of peer-reviewed scientific literature, including articles in leading international journals, book chapters, and numerous conference abstracts and presentations. He regularly presents his research at major international conferences in genetics, oncology, and precision medicine, including oral and poster presentations at European scientific meetings. In addition to his research activities, he serves as a peer reviewer for several international journals and has acted as a guest editor for special issues focused on AI-driven cancer genomics.
His academic excellence and research contributions have been recognized with several prestigious awards, including the Rector’s Award for Individual Scientific Research from the University of Zagreb, ESHG Conference Fellowship from the European Society of Human Genetics, and multiple scholarship awards from the Croatian Ministry for Science and Education and the City of Zagreb.
Through his work, Dr. Bulić aims to bridge clinical medicine and computational science, contributing to the development of robust, interpretable, and clinically actionable AI solutions that support personalized healthcare and translational genomic medicine.
