Kristijan Ćupurdija, M.D., Ph.D.

Kristijan Ćupurdija, M.D., Ph.D. completed his medical studies, postgraduate studies and a master's degree at the Faculty of Medicine in Rijeka, where he worked as a research fellow in the field of reproductive immunology. He completed his specialization and subspecialization at the Surgery Clinic of KB Dubrava, where he still works today. In 2011, he earned his doctorate at the Faculty of Medicine in Zagreb with a dissertation titled "Expression of survivin in gastric cancer and metastatic lymph nodes." He was the head of the Emergency Surgical Admission and later the head of the Department of Endoscopic and Bariatric Surgery. 

He has professionally improved his skills through study stays, work, and courses in Austria, the United Kingdom, and the USA. He is the author and co-author of numerous scientific articles as well as chapters in several university textbooks. 

In his professional work, his specific areas of interest are gastrointestinal tumour surgery, hernia and gallbladder operations using both open and laparoscopic techniques, and obesity surgery. For the past 15 years, he has been engaged in proctology in a specialised proctology outpatient clinic and surgery.
