Assoc. Prof. Ivo Lovričević M.D., Ph.D.
He graduated from and received his master’s degree and doctorate from University of Zagreb, School of Medicine. He specialized in General Surgery at Clinical Hospital Center Zagreb-Rebro. After specialization, he worked at University Hospital Center "Sisters of Mercy", where he acquired the status of subspecialist in vascular surgery.
His Master thesis was: “Evaluation of vein and alloplastic patch in angioplasty of carotid artery”, while his Ph.D. thesis was: “Using of Antireflux surgical procedure in treatment of chronic vein insufficiency”.
During his work experience, he introduced many vascular and endovascular methods into clinical practice.
His professional interests are total vascular surgery, aneurysmal diseases, diseases of peripheral arteries and aorta. He puts special emphasis on the treatment of atherosclerotic changes in the carotid arteries and venous pathology, area in which he also received his doctorate.
He worked as the head of the vascular surgery department at University Hospital Center "Sisters of Mercy" for many years, as well as a professor at the Faculty of Medicine. In two four-year terms, he was president of the Society for Vascular Surgery and Vice-President of the Phlebology Society.
He is the organizer of many vascular meetings and conferences. On two occasions he stayed in the USA at the North Western University Hospital Chicago Illinois, St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital and Texas Heart Institute, Houston, Texas, as well as in the Netherlands at the Department of Vascular Surgery in St. Antonius Ziekenhuis; Hospital Nieuwegein Holland as the winner of "Educational Travel Grants" for ESVS members.
He is the author of many professional and scientific works and co-author of many textbooks.
