Anton Šarčević, M.D.

Specialist in Anesthesiology, Reanimatology and Intensive Care Treatment

After graduating from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Osijek, graduating in July 2017, he completed his mandatory medical internship at the "Sveti Duh" Clinical Hospital in Zagreb. During his training, he demonstrated exceptional motivation for further professional development by volunteering at the Department of Cardiovascular Diseases at the "Sveti Duh" Clinical Hospital. After successfully passing his professional and state licensing exams, he began his medical career providing primary healthcare as a general practitioner at the Krapina-Zagorje County Health Center. Subsequently, he worked in the field as an out-of-hospital emergency medicine physician at the Teaching Institute for Emergency Medicine of the City of Zagreb, where he specialized in the triage and management of critically ill patients.

He solidified his professional focus on intensive care by completing a residency in anesthesiology, resuscitation, and intensive care medicine at the University Hospital Centre Zagreb. Upon acquiring his specialist title, he continued his clinical practice at the Department of Anesthesiology, Resuscitation, and Intensive Care for Head and Neck Surgery Patients (part of the Clinic for Ear, Nose, Throat, and Head and Neck Surgery at the University Hospital Centre Zagreb), where he worked until May 2026. It is important to highlight his exceptional contribution during the COVID-19 pandemic, during which he actively and continuously participated in the work of the intensive care unit, treating infected patients.

In addition to his dedicated clinical practice, Dr. Šarčević is committed to continuous professional development and contributing to the medical scientific community. He is the author and co-author of several scientific and professional medical articles and serves as an active peer reviewer for multiple medical journals. He regularly attends domestic and international congresses and courses. Currently, he is participating in an advanced program organized by the global medical initiative OMI (Open Medical Institute) in Salzburg, Austria, and the University for Continuing Education Krems, Austria.

His professional profile is complemented by strong social involvement and a commitment to health prevention and promotion. He is a licensed instructor for the International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) organization and a first aid instructor for diving emergencies. He is an active member of the Croatian Mountain Rescue Service (HGSS) and is involved in various philanthropic activities. He is fluent in English and German, and he maintains the high level of psychophysical fitness required by the demands of his profession through years of active participation in recreational and professional sports.
