Andrea Skelin, Ph.D.

Since 2014, Dr. Andrea Skelin is employed at Genos Ltd. for expertise and analysis and St. Catherine’s Hospital as a clinical research coordinator involved in Clinical research projects. Currently she has a key role in conducting the research process connecting basic science and clinical work (translational medicine). As a collaborator on EU FP7 project “Multi-dimensional omics approach to stratification of patients with low back pain” (Theme: Health; grant agreement 602736) she is involved in the scientific and management activities in adherence to all applicable regulatory guidelines and standard operating procedures. As a lecturer she participates in elective courses at the Medical Schools of Split and Medical School of Osijek.

Dr. Andrea Skelin graduated Molecular Biology at the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Science in 1997. She defended her master’s thesis and doctoral thesis in the field of Biotechnical Sciences from the University of Zagreb. From November 1997-2014 she was employed at Department of Microbiology, Faculty of Agriculture University of Zagreb where she obtained the title assistant professor in the Biotechnical area (2012) and Senior Assistant Researcher (2013). As a lecturer at the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Agriculture she has coordinated and participated in the undergraduate and postgraduate courses. She was collaborator in several projects taken by the Croatian Ministry of Science and Education Republic of Croatia as well as a collaborator on EU FP7 project: SEE-ERA.NET Plus Joint. As a part of her doctoral training she spent at the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia, Biotechnical Faculty, (2007) and at the Helmholtz Zentrum Munchen, Germany, (2009). She has completed a Food safety course at National Food Safety and Toxicology Center, Michigan State University, USA. She was a member of the organizing committee of several scientific conferences: “Power of microbes in industry and environment” 2007 and 2010 and the “ISABS conferences” organized by The International Society of Applied Biological Sciences (2015,2017). She is the author and co-author of many scientific papers published in indexed journals and has actively participated in numerous conferences. She is a member of Croatian Biological Society, International Society of Applied Biological Sciences and Croatian Society of Human Genetics.
