Short Penile Frenulum

A short penile frenulum (frenulum breve) is a condition where the small fold of skin connecting the glans (head) of the penis to the underside of the foreskin (prepuce) is too short. The purpose of the frenulum is to allow the foreskin to retract over the glans. If the frenulum is too short, it causes the glans to bend downward, which can lead to pain or discomfort during an erection. It is treated with a surgical procedure to lengthen the frenulum (frenuloplasty/frenulotomy).
