Wood lamp examination for fungal skin infections
Wood's lamp examination is actually an examination with a device that emits ultraviolet light (wavelength 365 nm) and is used in dermatology to diagnose most often fungal infections on the skin, which is then stained with a fluorescent color, which is a sign of the presence of fungi.
Before examining with a Wood's lamp, in case of suspicion of a fungal infection, never smear the skin with preparations against fungal infections or antimycotics in order to obtain an adequate diagnosis.
