Botox treatments
What is Botox and how is it used?
Botox is the most effective and popular aesthetic anti-aging treatment in the world. It is a natural, purified protein - botulinum toxin - produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. Botox injection is injected into the targeted muscles of the face in small doses to stop the formation of wrinkles and thus slow down the signs of aging. Therefore, it blocks nerve signals to these muscles, which leads to a reduction or complete disappearance of wrinkles.
How does Botox work?
First of all, Botox stands out for its great effectiveness in preventing and reducing wrinkles, without the need for invasive surgery.
In addition to removing fine and deep wrinkles it also improves the contours of the eyes and the entire face. At the same time, it is most often used to smooth wrinkles on the forehead, wrinkles around the eyes and around the lips. Also, Botox can be used to remove wrinkles on the nose, raise eyebrows and the corners of the lips, lower the lips in people whose gums are too visible, as well as narrow the face in people with pronounced chewing muscles and tighten the neck and skin around the chin. After Botox treatment, the skin looks fresher, more rested and younger. In addition to all of the above, excellent results are also achieved with the application of Botulinum toxin in the armpits to prevent increased sweating (hyperhidrosis).
What does Botox treatment look like?
Botox treatment is minimally invasive and almost painless and its application only takes a few minutes (10-15 min). Application is quick and simple, using needles of the smallest possible diameter, the so-called micro needles with which Botox is initiated in the desired place. Before the treatment, it is possible to apply pain relief cream, but the needles are so thin that there is practically no need for this. It is important to emphasize that Botox is not a poison, but a natural organic substance, completely harmless and without long-term side effects.
Recovery is not required and the patient can return to daily activities immediately after the treatment.
How long does the effect of Botox last?
The first effect of Botox is visible 2-7 days after the treatment and is localized in the places where Botox was applied, and should last approximately 3-6 months. After the application of Botox, the face appears fresher, more rested and takes on a youthful appearance, while maintaining the natural appearance.
If the treatments are repeated regularly (2-3 times a year), over time the muscles shrink, which leads to a prolongation and improvement of the aesthetic effect of the treatment. It is important to emphasize that the duration of the effect of a single treatment varies from patient to patient.
Who are candidates for Botox treatments?
Botox is recommended for all people who want to reduce and/or remove wrinkles on the face and refresh and rejuvenate their appearance, which contributes to an increase in self-confidence and satisfaction with their own appearance. It can be used already at the first signs of aging, i.e. after the age of 30.
How is increased sweating or hyperhidrosis treated with Botox?
Botox is also used as a medicine in cases of increased sweating or hyperhidrosis. It is an autoimmune disorder manifested by excessive sweating in the area of the armpits, as well as in the area of the palms and soles. The problem is not usual, but excessive sweating that leads to a feeling of discomfort, and can also be an aesthetic problem for patients. By applying botulinum toxin type A, a reversible blockade of the secretion of the sweat glands is achieved, due to which sweating in these regions stops.
The effect lasts 4-6 months, so the treatment needs to be repeated.
