Arthrex Angel PRP - Platelet-Rich Plasma
Arthrex Angel PRP - Platelet-Rich Plasma
ARTHREX ANGEL PRP - Platelet-rich plasma is an innovative treatment method that naturally accelerates recovery after numerous orthopedic injuries. Recovery itself is significantly more efficient and less painful.
Platelets represent the most valuable source of growth factors and healing cytokines (HGF, IL-6, TGF-B1,...). This knowledge was used by one of the most influential biotechnological companies – Arthrex, and marketed the ANGEL PRP system, which is a powerful weapon in the fight against painful conditions in orthopedics.
With the Angel method, we take the patient's own blood, and in special devices we get up to 18 times higher platelet concentrations. Under ultrasound guidance, we apply the resulting product to the painful area, thus achieving the most effective method of treatment and enabling the patient to return to daily or sports activities as quickly as possible. Effects of ARTHREX ANGEL PRP therapy
- Improves the quality of life
- Accelerates healing
- Accelerates recovery time
- Improves regeneration
- Leads to reduction of inflammation, swelling, pain
- Faster and longer-term therapeutic effect in contrast to alternative treatment methods
- Mobility is facilitated
- Less stiffness
The entire procedure is performed on an outpatient basis and lasts 30 to 40 minutes, depending on the indication and the volume of blood taken. On average, 60 mL of the patient's blood is used, from which 6-8 mL of highly concentrated PRP is obtained. After that, PRP is applied to the painful area under ultrasound guidance. The full effect is achieved with one injection, so it is not necessary to repeat the procedure as with some other methods.
How to prepare for the examination?
For most indications, a good clinical examination is sufficient. If the orthopedic surgeon assesses that this is not enough to establish an indication, then an ultrasound or MR (magnetic resonance) can be done additionally.
How to prepare for the treatment?
Corticosteroids should not be taken for three weeks before the treatment. One week before the treatment, avoid Aspirin, Ibuprofen and similar non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, and 5 days before the treatment avoid taking blood-thinning drugs. It is necessary to drink a lot of liquid the day before the treatment in order to obtain better quality PRP.
When is it possible to return to daily activities?
Patients who use this method have significantly faster recovery and return to daily activities. The procedure itself is painless or minimally painful. Most patients do not feel any pain during the procedure, while some patients feel minor pain during the application of PRP to the painful area, which goes away after few hours.
