Ultrasound of the thyroid gland
Ultrasound diagnostics or ultrasonography (US) is a radiological imaging method which uses ultrasonic high-frequency waves to see the inside structures of the body. Ultrasound is used to see changes in the organs and tissues, as well as discovering abnormal formations such as tumors.
By doing the US procedures, we do not use ionizing radiation.
We analyze the size of the thyroid gland, changes to its structure, acute inflammation, chronic inflammation, the existence of benign and malignant changes as well as its blood supply.
Radiologist – a specialist in radiology educated for doing US and for interpreting it, will interpret the scan and will write a radiological report. If necessary, the radiologist will discuss the report with the physician that indicated the procedure.
