Ultrasound of the abdomen
Ultrasound diagnostics or ultrasonography (US) is a radiological imaging method which uses ultrasonic high-frequency waves to see the inside structures of the body. Ultrasound is used to see changes in the organs and tissues, as well as discovering abnormal formations such as tumors.
By doing the US procedures, we do not use ionizing radiation.
With abdominal ultrasound, conditions of the abdominal organs are diagnosed: liver, gallbladder, bile duct, pancreas, spleen, kidney. Furthermore, we analyze the abdominal aorta, enlarged lymph nodes or free fluid.
Radiologist – a specialist in radiology educated for doing US and for interpreting it, will interpret the scan and will write a radiological report. If necessary, the radiologist will discuss the report with the physician that indicated the procedure.
