Muscles and Tendons Ultrasound
Ultrasound Imaging of the Musculoskeletal System is commonly used to diagnose:
- Tendon injuries, such as injuries to the shoulder's rotator cuff tendons or the Achilles tendon
- Muscle abnormalities, including muscle ruptures or soft tissue masses within them
- Bleeding and other fluid collections in muscles, bursae, or joints
- Small benign and malignant soft tissue tumors
- Early changes in inflammatory joint diseases (e.g., rheumatoid arthritis)
Ultrasound waves do not penetrate bone easily, so they only show the outer contour of the bone. For visualizing the internal bone structure or the inside of joints, we use other radiological imaging methods, primarily MRI.
