MRI of the Breast
Breast MRI is used for detecting breast cancer and other abnormalities as an additional diagnostic method alongside mammography and ultrasound, as well as for monitoring patients at increased risk of breast cancer who have a positive family history. The method is excellent for visualizing tumor processes before surgery and for ongoing patient monitoring.
This examination is usually performed with a contrast agent to provide a more detailed view of pathological formations in the breast. The procedure lasts up to 30 minutes.
Breast MRI includes:
- Screening for women at high risk of developing breast cancer
- Examination of dense glandular breast tissue
- Assessment of breast implant condition
- Evaluation of implant rupture
- Assessment of cancer spread and postoperative patient follow-up
- Monitoring of unclear pathological lesions in the breast
