CT of the Head
Head CT is a crucial tool in diagnosing and monitoring various pathological conditions. It allows for the imaging of segments such as:
- the brain
- angiography of head and neck blood vessels
- paranasal sinuses
- orbits
- temporal bones and middle and inner ear
This procedure enables the recognition of brain bleeding or edema, identification of damage after injuries (such as skull and facial). For a detailed assessment of the brain, MRI is the method of choice, while CT is more commonly used in emergency situations, where rapid and accurate diagnosis enables timely treatment, improving the chances of a successful outcome.
